Project Description
Novotel St Kilda
ERDI engaged Dezign to deliver the refurbishment and repositioning of the former Saint Kilda Beach Hotel as Novotel St Kilda. The project involved the renewal of 80 guestrooms and suites, corridors and public areas, creating a contemporary hotel experience aligned with the Novotel brand and its St Kilda setting.
The design draws on the area’s eclectic coastal identity, using colour, pattern and custom detailing to give the property a distinct sense of place. Within the guestrooms, a more restrained approach to the functional elements balances the expressive finishes, creating spaces that feel comfortable, considered and distinctly Novotel.
References to the local area are carried through the custom carpets and wallpapers, including designs influenced by the well-known cake shops of Acland Street. The palette and detailing continue through the guestrooms and corridors, establishing a consistent design language across the hotel.
Delivering repeatable solutions across 80 guestrooms required close coordination between design, procurement and construction. Buildability, material availability and sequencing were considered throughout the process, allowing the team to maintain the design intent while supporting an efficient delivery programme and a consistent finished result.
The completed refurbishment repositions the property for its next chapter as Novotel St Kilda, combining the requirements of an internationally recognised hotel brand with a design response grounded in the character of its location.
