Project Description

The Old Commodore Hotel

A North Sydney institution, The Old Commodore Hotel has been carefully revitalised under the stewardship of Epochal, preserving its historic character while repositioning the venue for a new generation of patrons.

Designed by Paul Kelly Design, the transformation draws on the hotel’s maritime heritage and connection to Billy Blue, layering history with a contemporary pub sensibility. Dezign delivered the full procurement and custom furniture package, translating the design vision into a cohesive, high-performing hospitality environment.

Across the main bar, dining areas, terrace, and lower-level spaces, custom furniture was carefully designed and curated to support a variety of experiences. From casual dining and social drinking through to live entertainment and sport, each space balances comfort, durability, and flexibility within a high-volume venue.

Externally, the iconic terrace has been enhanced with new furniture and layouts that maximise views toward the Sydney Harbour Bridge, reinforcing the Old Commodore’s status as one of the North Shore’s most memorable places to gather.

The result is a confident evolution of a heritage pub that respects its past, reflects Epochal’s considered approach to hospitality, and delivers a welcoming, contemporary experience grounded in strong design, custom furniture, and thoughtful procurement.
